read The Crocodile Under the Bed.
So I was delighted to be at the launch of The Crocodile Under the Bed at Fortnum & Mason in London a couple of weeks ago. Judith Kerr, now in her nineties, gave a speech and her stories were read by Geraldine McEwan.
I was invited to the event because I illustrated a little colouring book for Fortnum & Mason and this was its first outing. It was included in a goody bag for guests along with a signed copy of The Crocodile Under the Bed.
This experience is an example of why I love being a freelance illustrator so much. You never know what you will be working on next or where it will take you. A little colouring book commission that has been very enjoyable in itself (the people at Fortnums are great to work with) lead to me being in the same room as one of my heroes - Judith Kerr.
More information about Judith Kerr and her work is in this article by the Independent. More information about The Crocodile Under the Bed is on the Harper Collins website.
